They’re also plumbed by blood vessels, which lead all the way from the heart. By the time blood vessels reach these extremities, like twigs from a tree, they have branched and got much smaller in size. This rare condition is sometimes called “trash foot,” because of the way in which the feet become so discolored. In adults, however, finding the Babinski sign is an altogether different story. In some otherwise healthy people though, the Babinski sign can be observed during deep sleep.

Opinion | Sheryl Sandberg Screams Back at the Silence

There is a scene in “Screams Before Silence,” the harrowing documentary about the rape and mutilation of Israeli women on Oct. 7, that I can’t get out of my head. It’s an interview that the former Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg, the documentary’s presenter, conducted with Ayelet Levy Sachar, the mother of 19-year-old Naama Levy, whose kidnapping that morning was filmed by Hamas. But then you just see it there.”To have a child seized, savaged and paraded this way goes beyond a parent’s worst nightmare. “You can believe that Gaza is happening because Israel has no choice; you can believe that Gaza is happening because Israel wants to kill babies. And you should also be able to hold the thought that sexual violence is unacceptable, no matter what.”

Having begun the year on eight LPGA Tour wins, Korda has surged to 13 in a matter of months. “It’s just been a crazy, crazy, crazy couple of weeks, with some really solid golf,” Korda, still damp from her leap into the lake beside the 18th hole, told reporters. A bogey at the following hole marked her first since the 7th of Friday’s second round, an unblemished 39-hole run. Stefanik has often explained it herself: She saw Trump’s popularity in her upstate New York district and got on board. That first impeachment proceeding made her a “Republican star,” as Trump himself said at the time. When there was a nationwide baby formula shortage in 2022, Stefanik blamed the “White House, House Dems, & usual pedo grifters” on social media. One upset donor told CNN in 2023 that he gave to Santos “because of Elise Stefanik’s endorsement.” Stefanik frequently denied any previous knowledge of his Santos’ history. “The American people stand with President Trump,” Stefanik wrote, “against the unethical, unconstitutional, and unprecedented weaponization of the judicial system.”CNN’s Alayna Treene contributed to this story.

Nov 8 (Reuters) - Australian Laura Enever has surfed her way into the record books after stroking into a giant four-story wave in Hawaii earlier this year, the World Surf League and Guinness World Records said on Wednesday. Enever, 31, was surfing at an outer reef on Oahu's North Shore in January when she caught a huge blue wall measured at 43.6 feet (13.3m), breaking the world record for the biggest wave ever paddled into by a woman. "I came up from that wave, and there was a huge, huge wave behind that took out the whole lineup, and I just saw boards flying everywhere. When I got to the inside, I was almost laughing - I just couldn't believe I'd caught that wave but also escaped that crazy, huge wave behind mine." The biggest wave ever ridden was a 26.2m monster at Nazare, towed into by Germany's Sebastian Steudtner in 2020.

Fightbacks were the order of the day as Liverpool recovered from falling behind to win 3-1 at Wolverhampton Wanderers in the early kickoff and two goals deep into stoppage time earned Tottenham Hotspur a 2-1 win over Sheffield United. After another tumultuous week off the pitch for Manchester United, the club needed the players to lift their supporters. United fell behind in the 20th minute when Danny Welbeck slotted home against his former club when left unmarked in the penalty area. "Definitely that (losing three from five for the first time in Premier League history) is something that bothers me, but also I have to seen the way we play," coach Erik ten Hag said. Tottenham were heading for their first Premier League defeat under Ange Postecoglou as they trailed to Gustavo Hamer's goal against the run of play in the 75th minute.

CNN —Compulsive nail-biting, skin-picking, hairpulling, and lip- and cheek-biting are among a range of body-focused repetitive behaviors, or BFRBs, that can become a source of distress, but new research may offer hope for relief. Gently tapping the middle and index fingers against the thumb is one of the habit replacement techniques suggested by research. In the study, Moritz recruited 268 people with BFRBs — include participants exhibiting skin-picking, trichotillomania, nail-biting, and lip- and cheek-biting behaviors — who were between ages 18 and 80. After six weeks, 54% of people in the group using the habit replacement techniques reported improvement on a scale devised to measure the severity of body-focused repetitive behavior compared with 20% in the control group. However, she said she thinks habit replacement techniques are just part of a bigger BFRB treatment puzzle.

Japan down Costa Rica to put one foot in last 16

Playing through Mina Tanaka in an advanced midfield role rather than playmaker Yui Hasegawa as they had against Zambia, Japan were already well in the ascendant before the double blow that knocked the stuffing out of the Central Americans. Costa Rica, who were beaten 3-0 by Spain in their opener, were barely able to land a blow on their opponents and it looked from then on only a matter of many goals Japan would rack up. Despite having 25 attempts on goal, however, Japan were unable to add to their tally - a shortcoming that might concern coach Futoshi Ikeda with tougher challenges lying ahead. Japan face Spain in Wellington on Monday in a match that will almost certainly decide which of the two sides top the group, while Costa Rica will play Zambia in Hamilton at the same time as both sides continue to seek their first World Cup win. Ms. Daedone, who lives in San Diego, was still at large as of Tuesday afternoon. If convicted, the two women would face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. It was unclear who was representing the women. The company, which grew in popularity for its focus on female sexuality and by providing courses, coaching and events around the topic, gained notoriety for its practice of orgasmic meditation.

Gleyber Torres was the best player in the Yankees’ lineup over the first two weeks of the season. Through the Yankees’ first 12 games, he was leading the team in batting average (.357), on-base plus slugging percentage (1.179), walks (11) and stolen bases (5). Then the Yankees returned home on April 13, and Torres went into a 2-for-28 skid — a frustrating stretch for a player who has been streaky throughout his career. And as a hitter it’s hard to get caught up in a week’s worth of results. Some weeks you put it on the screws a handful of times and get nothing to show for it.”
A 2020 video of a doctor in China collapsing during an operation was shared online with captions falsely suggesting that it shows an Australian surgeon suffering a stroke related to COVID-19 vaccination. The clip was posted on Twitter (here) and Facebook (bit.ly/3FGGxyX) with the description: “Triple jabbed Australian surgeon stroking out mid-surgery. Again, this is apocalyptic.”But the video dates back to January 2020, at least nine months before COVID-19 vaccines were developed and rolled out in China (here). A still from the video appears in a Jan. 17, 2020 report by The Beijing News, which describes the footage as circulating online at that time (here). A 2020 video shows a Chinese doctor collapsing during due to hypoglycemia and exhaustion, not an Australian surgeon “stroking out” because of the COVID-19 vaccine.
One person on Facebook shared the clip and wrote: “TV reporters stroking out...brought to you by Pfizer” (here). In a Jan. 8 segment, CTV News Edmonton reporter Jessica Robb can be heard telling anchor Nahreman Issa: “Sorry Nahreman. CTV Edmonton tweeted about Robb’s health on Jan. 9, stating that she “is feeling better and is now resting” (here). The Canadian broadcaster also released a statement on Twitter on Robb’s behalf, where the reporter dismissed claims linking the incident to COVID-19 vaccines. A statement from CTV on Jessica Robb’s behalf said the incident was not related to the COVID-19 vaccine.
